Down the Road

Motorcycling and Me - 2002

Pretty nice weather for January!

My friend Steve from Seattle and I started the year by going to the Death Valley Daze VII rally at Furnace Creek.

Loud and Slow A big trip was my ride to Daytona. Half the east coast rides there in early March to get out of the snow, but I did it to give my R1100RS to Stefan Knopf for transport on to Heidelberg.
See SF My friends from Reading, Kate and Paul, visited me for a couple weeks. Amazingly, the only photos I have are of a day touristing around San Francisco. No moto content at all!
Ooops.

The next week I took one of Reg Pridmore's CLASS riding schools. But instead I got a degree in hard knocks.

A Mellow Rally In April I went to the Twaddlefest Rally at the Songdog Ranch outside of New Cuyama, California.
Two R51's in the lead! The next weekend I went up to Sears Point Raceway with my friend Steve from Seattle to see the Vintage Motorcycle Days (VMD) West for AHRMA racing, a swap meet, and a vintage ride.
Vintage Group Trip The Vintage group took a camping trip to eat at the Samoa Cookhouse.
See my poor bike come to pieces! My R60/2 started making some funny noises when the clutch was disengaged. See how a /2 motor comes apart!
A different breed of iron horse My big trip was spending 6 weeks in Europe; 4 in Spain and Portugal. It also included a visit with all my Europrez friends at the EP7 Rally in Bavaria.
Europrez Pascal at Half Dome One of my Europrez friends, Pascal, visited me and we went to Yosemite with Magwa and Fronch.
Carmel Valley Road Another Europrez, Sascha, stayed with me for a couple weeks and we did some riding locally.
